Equal parts road comedy and rousing adventure story, the film masterfully weaves lively humor with emotionally honest performances. Defiant city kid Ricky gets a fresh start in the New Zealand countryside. He quickly finds himself at home with his new foster family. When circumstances suddenly change and Ricky must move again to another home, both he and his new foster dad go on the run. As a national manhunt ensues, the newly branded outlaws must face their options in the bush - go out in a blaze of glory or overcome their differences and survive as a family. This is a hilarious, touching crowd-pleaser that reminds us that growing up is a team effort and that we all need help us along the way.
…takes the audience on a rollicking yet poignant journey through the New Zealand backcountry in the company of a pair of engagingly eccentric characters. - Seattle Times
