Jeffrey Blitz, who entertained us a few seasons back with his remarkable film, Spellbound, returns with Rocket Science, an inspirational comedy. Newcomer Reece Thompson plays Hal Hefner, a 15-year-old high-school student with a minor yet socially alienating disability: he stutters. Determined to work through the problem and impress a beautiful girl, Hal opts for an extreme route -- he joins his school?s debate team, which sends him on a headfirst plunge into breakneck speech competitions. The film is memorable just for its scenes of debaters practicing their rapid-firing delivery technique and becomes endearing when it reflects on the universal nature of love.

Sharp and funny?a hyper articulate comedy. - Newsweek
