Inspired by the childhood experiences of actor George Hamilton, this rich period comedy tells the tale of Hamilton?s mother and her attempt to find a new father for her two young boys. Renee Zellweger plays the irrepressible Ann Devereaux, the beautiful and mercurial mother who catches her husband cheating and heads off with her boys in a baby-blue '53 Cadillac Coupe de Ville convertible and never looks back. This is a story of an indomitable spirit who uses her intelligence, beauty and southern charm to forge a future for herself and the boys she loves.
An appealing comedy. - Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
