In one of the most original and colorful animated films of the year, 12-year-old Brendan battles Vikings and confronts an ancient serpent on a mission to locate a legendary crystal and complete the mythical Book of Kells. Brendan lives in a heavily fortified medieval outpost where the ongoing threat of Viking raids causes the peaceful inhabitants to live in a state of constant fear. As the Vikings close in, Brendan ventures into the surrounding forest and prepares to confront his darkest fears. Accompanying him on his dangerous mission is a half-wolf/half-human magical being whose powers help to guide Brendan through this enchanting and mysterious new world.

It is only fitting that a movie concerned with the power and beauty of drawing should be so gorgeously and intricately drawn. - The New York Times
