'Made in Dagenham' is based on a true story about a group of spirited women who joined forces to change women?s right in England forever. Rita, played by the always appealing Sally Hawkins, reflects the upbeat era of the 1960s, along with her friends and co-workers at a Ford Motor factory. Rita, who sees herself as a wife and mother, is coerced into attending a meeting between the union and company executives. She is outraged by the lack of respect shown in the meeting to women employees. With humor, common sense and courage Rita takes on the bosses and finally the government, as she and her supporters fight for equal pay in the workplace.
Sally Hawkins is just plain irresistible in this funny, touching and vital salute to women in the work force. ? Rolling Stone
