In the casting coup of the season, Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren join together to portray Alfred Hitchcock and his wife and professional partner, Alma. Together they created some of the most memorable films in cinema history. This story focuses on the irascible filmmaker as he tackles the creation of Psycho. Forced to finance it on his own even after a long, successful career, we witness the sometimes funny and occasionally dark creative impulses that led to this remarkable classic of cinema. Hopkins and Mirren provide an entertaining and nuanced look inside a loving and collaborative marriage. Scarlett Johanssen costars, portraying Vivian Leigh.
An entertaining?thoroughly enjoyable glimpse into a familiar artist's creative process. - San Francisco Chronicle
